Waterworlds

The Second post!

Reasons to be Cheerful. My beautiful Son

Things that Make Me Go Grr!. Not having enough time!

Well, I'm quite ashamed.Such a long time has gone by since my last entry.I have a huge amount of catching up to do but to that later.I wanted to talk about Waterworlds , my current project.
My mind is such a whirl most of the time I go from idea to idea and every day I'm going from the dyepot to the spinning wheel to the carder to the post office.Ideas keep popping up all over the place for colour schemes and sometimes I just have to put them into action. However, lately I have been doing some work on a particular colour scheme, which started because I was trying to reproduce the colours in a commercial yarn.

It proved harder than I thought and I got frustrated, but now I'm realising that there are such an amazing array of subtleties of colour.

Thankfully, these colours are also really popular! But since I'm in this groove I've decided to go with it, and call the whole project Waterworlds. I am happiest when I am by the water. I live only metres from the ocean, you can hear it at night with the windows open. But there are many different watery environments, estuary, beach, river, lake, glacier .And I am in the perfect place to explore them, New Zealand has a massive coastline to hand, you are never very far away from the water.
So watch out for many new rovings and hand dyed batts in this theme in my store. Of course I won't be able to resist the urge to dye or spin a purple yarn, so there will be other things too.

Here is a little taster of things I have done so far which would now come under Waterworlds.

  1. Nice, nice. Your pictures of Etsy things make me have the 'gimmes' - gimme this and gimme that. Then I remember I have 5 pounds (!) of undyed superwash merino hanging in the garage. It's been there for 4 years - I am terrified of making it awful. (I actually flunked a batik class once upon a time.)
Now I'm on my way to the artbyartemis store to be dazzled.
Thank you for sharing your talent.
